Easy Cleaning Technique
For most mothers, cleaning can be such a nightmare. Even though every muscle and every bone in your body has the intention of accomplishing some cleaning during the day, somehow, by the time you put the kids into bed at night, you realize that the house managed to look like a scenery no cleaner than when you woke up. Fortunately, with some easy cleaning techniques, you can make your daily cleaning routine easier each day.
The first thing that you have to remember is that most cleaning products work best when you allow them to penetrate the stain and break down the surface dirt and grime. Thus, instead of trying to speed up your cleaning routine by spraying the cleaning product onto the surface and immediately scrubbing the dirt away, it is better to spray a generous amount of the cleaning product onto the surface of the area you need to clean and walk away for about five minutes or more to allow the product to do the work of removing the dirt. You can use that five minutes for other cleaning tasks such as throwing a load of laundry into your washing machine.
After five minutes, you can go back to the area where you sprayed the cleaning substance and wipe the surface clean with a clean piece of cloth or a paper towel. This way, you have accomplished two cleaning tasks within the time it takes to complete one.
Refurbished Appliances
It is perfectly understandable for a customer who has purchased a new appliance to expect a product that looks and works perfect. If there is a problem with the new appliance, the dealer may opt to send a repairman to fix it or replace the appliance with a new one depending on the extensiveness of the problem. If the repair work is extensive, the dealer may opt to give the buyer a new appliance and send the damaged one back to the manufacturer.
Appliances that have been returned to their manufacturer and have been repaired are called refurbished appliances. The repair can be as simple as replacing defective buttons or lights and it can be as complex as rebuilding the motor or replacing it. The idea is to make a defective appliance work and look like a new one. Once the damaged appliance has been repaired and turned back into its working condition, it is then resold as a refurbished appliance.
Many people choose to purchase refurbished appliances to save money. This is because refurbished appliances cost cheaper than the new ones and many of them still come with warranties. Theoretically, a refurbished appliance should work as good the new ones.
Saving Energy with Storm Doors
Without a doubt, people who live in places with Northerly climates already know what a storm door is. A storm door refers to the additional exterior door which is installed over the door of the house. Storm doors are used to act as insulator by means of trapping a layer of air between the storm door and the regular door. The insulating qualities of storm doors make them helpful in saving energy.
Storm doors are available in the market as solid doors or, for visibility, as doors with glass panels. Some versions of storm doors with glass windows include slide in screens. This is so the side in screen can replace the glass, creating a screen door used during summer months. However, storm doors with glass panels are not good with primary doors made of fiberglass and metal with plastic or vinyl coating. This is because even though the amount of sunlight allowed through the glass can be useful in providing warmth and allowing light to enter the home, it can cause damages to fiberglass doors and metal doors with plastic trim.
Installing storm doors require a lot of precision measuring. Thus, if you are not very good in measuring and you don’t have the right tools for the installation, it is better to hire a professional to install the storm door for you.
Bedroom Makeover
When it comes to thinking of ideas for your master bedroom makeover project, some people tend to overdo it, resulting into a design and interior decoration style that overwhelms the eyes of the viewer. Having a spacious bedroom doesn’t mean that you need to fill it up with many different decorations and furniture. It is usually better to just combine some bedroom designing elements together in order to create a warm and cozy ambience to ensure relaxation and a good night’s sleep.
Before you start your bedroom makeover, it is essential that you already have a clear idea of what your design style would be, instead of coming up with different ideas as you go along. It is better if you have a picture of the look you want the bedroom to have. You may opt to get your inspiration from the pictures of different bedrooms featured in magazines and interior designer’s websites.
It doesn’t matter whether you want a contemporary, traditional, oriental, western or eclectic interior design, as long as you have already made up your mind about what style you are going to use in decorating, you will find it easier to systematically proceed while choosing decorative elements such as furniture, fabrics and colors for the bedroom.
The Practice of Feng Shui Interior Design
Feng Shui, the Chinese art of creating harmonious spaces based on laws of both heaven and earth or astronomy and geology, is very popular these days in the Western world for its principles of furniture placements and room design. Many home owners and even owners of commercial spaces consult feng shui interior designers in the belief that by following feng shui principles, they will have good luck, good health, fortune and even love.
With numerous text books, seminars and web pages devoted to the subject matter, feng shui is now being practiced by both amateur and professional interior designers. The practice of feng shui interior design attempts to direct, channel and retain energy, called Qi or Chi, in a way that is most beneficial to the owner of the room, house or office. Directing, retaining and channeling Qi can be done by means of placing certain objects at different locations or by installing furniture made of specific kinds of material.
Aside from the energy or Qi, another important concept in feng shui interior design is the use of five elements to alter or improve the energy of the room for the benefit of the individuals who use it. The five elements consist of Water, Fire, Earth, Wood and Metal.
